He also teaches how to grind gold, and write with it as one would with ink: in the same way to write with azure, and with cinnabar: the last work, and very necessary for human use. [Are] Added again two beautiful alphabets of capital letters, which in the other impressions were not printed. With privilege]. [Without address]. In Venetia. [In Venice]. 1572. In-12 oblong (15 x 20,6 cm). Title with woodcut vignette, (92) pp : brown speckled basane, five-ribbed spine decorated, gilt lace on the edges (17th century binding). Precious treatise on the art of writing by the Franciscan religious and calligrapher from Ferrara, Vespasiano Amphiareo (1501-1563). The work begins on the use of blue, gold and cinnabar for the realization of inks. Follows pages in the bastard typography of his invention and whose texts are framed, for the majority of the pages, of alphabets. Pages of letter ornaments, precede the double pages of alphabets in different typographies where the large initials are only two per page, all engraved on wood in frames. Very ornate alphabets and two last alphabets [added in this edition, as mentioned on the title page] with extreme geometric graphic modernity. First edition, different, in Venice in 1548. A collection of the greatest rarity. An alphabet of eight leaves has been removed [D 6 to E 5]. Barely visible restoration on the cuts. Title-piece, on the spine, missing.
