Charles-Ferdinand RAMUZ (1878–1947). Autograph letter, Pully - Lot 396
Charles-Ferdinand RAMUZ (1878–1947). Autograph letter, Pully, May 29, 1937, to Henri Philippon; 2 pages, in-8 format, addressed to La Muette, in a stamped envelope. He had received the magazine *Le Chef d’œuvre* (in which “Le Règne de l’esprit malin” had appeared): “I still find, as far as I’m concerned, the term a bit exaggerated and ‘compromising.’” He regrets not having found “on the cover the Valais ‘group’ (or black man?) that I had sent you, but rather, alas, my own image”; he was surprised, not thinking he had posed for Cinédis: “They must have substituted an impressive look-alike for my modest self,” but the portrait is well done “and perfectly captures the image of the preacher people think I am. But the ‘LEFTISTS’! For you are at the mercy of the leftists.” He would like to hear news from Paris, “where the Exposition prevents me from going, like all the poor.” He laments the punctuation changes in his text… Enclosed is an autograph letter signed by Henry de Montherlant, dated October 21, 1949 (1 p., in-8), referring to a quote from *The Demon of Good*.
