Jacques NECKER (1732–1804). Letter from the author, September 14, 1801; 1½ pages, in-4. He shares in his correspondent’s grief. “Your filial love is too well known for anyone to doubt your sorrow.” His daughter (Madame de Staël) also shares in his sorrow. He invites him to come to Coppet to take his mind off things. Enclosed is a letter from Albertine NECKER DE SAUSSURE (1766–1846, author of *Éducation progressive*) to Mme de Saussure Fabri (2½ pages, in-8, addressed), announcing that her daughter Albertine has just given birth to a healthy baby boy.
