John Maynard KEYNES (1883–1946), British economist. L.A.S., - Lot 46
John Maynard KEYNES (1883–1946), British economist. L.A.S., London, December 22, 1913, to Dr. Mortimer Epstein; 1 page, in-8 format, on Royal Economic Society letterhead; in English. On behalf of the *Economic Journal*, he sends him a copy of Werner Sombart’s (1863–1941) book, *Der Bourgeois*, which he considers an important work: “It looks to be an important work.” He has just read, with great interest, Sombart’s book on the Jews (The Jews and Modern Capitalism), in Epstein’s translation, for which he offers his congratulations: “I have just finished reading with great interest his work on the Jews in your translation. May I congratulate you on the admirable way in which the translation has been coming out?”… Enclosed is a typewritten copy of a letter from Keynes to Dr. A. Spiethoff, Firle, August 25, 1933 (1 p., in-4, in English), regarding the barbarity of the Nazi regime in Germany.
