Large Virgin and Child, known as the Vierge de Montaigu, carved wood, black patina with gold highlights, known as the Vierge Noire (Black Virgin) 18th century H. 80 cm Minor accidents It was on an old oak tree in Montaigu-Scherpenheuvel, already venerated by the Celts, Franks and Germans, that the original statue of Notre-Dame de Montaigu, some thirty centimetres tall and made of oak, was installed, and has been an object of pilgrimage since the 13th century.
