NUBAR PACHA (1825-1897) Egyptian statesman and financier. L. - Lot 380
NUBAR PACHA (1825-1897) Egyptian statesman and financier. L.A.S., Cannes November 12, 1890, to M. Vigreux; 2 1/2 pages in8 (mourning). About agricultural machinery for Egypt. Asks about M. Albaret's trials. "The tympanums that raise water in Egypt require three pairs of oxen [...] If the threshing-milling machine requires four oxen at a time, i.e. 2 pairs to be set in motion, that would be 6 pairs of oxen per day [...] under these conditions my small owners [...] will prefer their system".... A trial should be carried out of a crusher-crusher operating with only 5 or 6 horsepower, which would also be used for threshing: "the farmer could save on the purchase of the steam engine"...
