[WORLD WAR II - PHOTOGRAPHS] - Lot 202
[WORLD WAR II - PHOTOGRAPHS] A collection of vintage photographic prints depicting concentration camps. Among these prints: - a press photo showing soldiers discovering a mass grave at Buchenwald. Agency stamps on the back. 20 x 15 cm - a press photo of the Mauthausen concentration camp. Agency and archival stamps on the back. 13 x 17 cm - a vintage silver gelatin print showing the entrance gate and watchtower of a Stalag in 1940. 6 x 9 cm - Seven vintage silver gelatin prints showing prisoners in a state of extreme weakness or corpses. 7 x 9 cm (3), 9 x 11 cm (5) Given their shocking nature or the fact that they violate human dignity, we have decided not to reproduce certain photos or documents. However, these photos were taken and published to serve as evidence of the crimes committed by the Nazis. Some were even taken by the camp liberators and distributed by the Ministry of Information. We therefore believe it is important that they continue to serve this purpose and bear witness to the suffering endured by the Jewish people. These photos will be provided only upon request.
