Paris: Joubert, An XI-1803. - In-folio, speckled paper boards, smooth spine, yellow edges (period binding).
First edition of this collection by Charles Normand (1765-1840), an architect and artist who embodied the transition from neoclassicism to the Empire style, and collaborated in particular with Percier and Fontaine.
It is a veritable catalog of ornaments typical of the period, consisting of text leaves, an engraved title and 35 plates drawn and line-engraved by Normand.
Copy enriched, as is often the case, with the "Premier [et deuxième] Cayer de Panneaux, Frises et sujets Arabesques. Composés et Gravés par Fr. M. Queverdo" (1748-1797), comprising 12 plates drawn and engraved by Queverdo in 1788 and published by Chéreau and Joubert.
Rubbing and a few tears to boards. Some foxing. The date "1803" has been scratched on the title.
