About his Notes sur Antoine Héroët et Jean de Lingendes, copies of which have been lost... Then about his deteriorating health: "I hope you are quite well now, and that you will not be obliged to take a Vichy cure again this year. For me, there are no more serious disorders, but an excess of uric acid which produces all sorts of discomforts; my knees have been ankylosed and I was completely deaf for part of the winter. I still suffer from terrible insomnia, and my appetite is diminished. My morale is affected: work is difficult, with no regularity; I tire very quickly; I get dizzy, etc. Perhaps I'd do better to stop all work and get some serious treatment; but that's very difficult for me because of my mother, who would be very worried, and then I hate being subjected to discipline, locked up, etc. So I'll go as long as I can. So I'll go as long as I can, trying to get out of it by my own means"...
