Édith PIAF (1915-1963). L.A.S. "Edith", New York May 29, 1957, to her paternal grandmother, Léontine Gassion; 3pages large in-8. Moving letter to her grandmother, while on tour in New York. She is tired, and anxious to get home to rest, "and this time I'm not leaving Paname for at least two years". She would like to write to her every day, but feels too tired: "But my little Mamy chérie, know that I love you like my mommy, a mommy I would have liked to have had, a mommy who understands everything; deep down, I've always felt alone and anxious, maybe it's because I didn't have a mommy!" She can't wait to see her Mamy again: "I dream of the wonderful moment when I'll run up your stairs and kiss you like I want to!
