[CONSTITUTION]. Constitutional Act no. 1072, preceded by the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, presented to the French people by the National Convention, June 24, 1793.
À Auxerre, Imprimerie de L. Fournier, 1793.
In-4 sheet format. 20 pages.
Marks of old vertical and horizontal folds. Very rare foxing, small hole in one corner and slight browning on last page.
Rare copy printed in Auxerre of the Constitution of Year I, drawn up by a committee of 9 members of the Montagnard Convention from a draft by Condorcet and promulgated on 6 Messidor Year I (June 24, 1793). It opens as follows: "The people of France, convinced that forgetfulness & contempt for the natural rights of man, are the sole cause of the misfortunes of the world, have resolved to set forth in a solemn declaration these sacred & inalienable rights ...]". This is followed by the 35 articles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, and the 124-article Constitutional Act.
A fine copy of this historical document.
