RAPHAËL GIARRUSSO (1925-1986)
A Canadian-born painter of Italian origin, Raphaël Giarrusso moved to Paris on a scholarship before joining the Poterie d'Accolay in 1953, where he distinguished himself as a painter-decorator, characterized by his use of bright colors and stylized figures. In 1963, having acquired a high level of technical mastery, he opened his own workshop and developed ceramic sculptures decorated with animals and other figures, often articulated with wire. Produced in parallel with his work as a painter, his work, marked by inventiveness and humor, has spread through numerous exhibitions and collaborations.
