Dominique-Jean, baron LARREY. P.S., Toulon 25 germinal IV (April 14, 1796); 1page in-fol. with republican vignette and letterhead Je soussigné, Chirurgien en Chef des Armées de la République, ancien Chirurgien-Major des Vaisseaux de l'État, Membre de la Société Philomatique de Paris, et Professeur d'Anatomie à Toulon (one edge slightly frayed, small paper loss in lower margin without loss of text). Certificate of study and aptitude granted to Cen Michel Bernard: Larrey certifies that the latter, "Surgeon 3rd class of the Army of Italy has followed my public anatomy courses with as much zeal as assiduity, he has followed the private courses I have given on various parts of anatomy and operations, he has dissected with art all the parts that make up the human body, he has performed operations on the cadaver, bandaged our wounded brothers in arms [...] with zeal, dexterity, and distinguished intelligence. The examinations I have made him undergo in private lessons, and his success with the sick, ensure that he has extensive knowledge in the theory and practice of the healing art; moreover, he shows the happiest dispositions to make great progress in it"...
