Roger MARTIN DU GARD. L.A.S., Nice April 11, 1953, to P. Luc - Lot 216
Roger MARTIN DU GARD. L.A.S., Nice April 11, 1953, to P. Luc-Verbon; 1 1/2 pages in-8 addressed to him. About André Gide. He refuses to answer an inquiry: "Since the publication of my "Notes sur A. Gide", I have made it a rule not to add anything to them, despite the solicitations of several periodical editors"... These "Notes" answer the question asked, "whether it concerns the influence Gide has exerted on me, or whether it concerns his influence on my work"... Attached is a L.A.S. from Henry de Montherlant to the same, Christmas 52, on the subject of Gide: "I wrote what I thought of Gide in a journal this year. It was very cruel"...
