ANTOINE DE VINCK (1924-1992) - Lot 30
ANTOINE DE VINCK (1924-1992) Les Vagues en strees, 1982 Large flattened truncated-cone vase with elliptical cross-section. Enameled stoneware proof; the title decoration in deep engravings. Signed with the stamp on the edge of the neck. Bearing a label with the words Antoine DE VINCK 1982 Bö under the base. Height: 55cm Initially trained in theology and philosophy, Antoine de Vinck approached ceramics as a passionate self-taught artist. It was only after training at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture et des Arts Décoratifs in Brussels, and several trips to and meetings with potters in France in the 1950s, that he was finally recognized as one of the masters of contemporary ceramics. His creations, inspired by ancient civilizations, feature material effects and glazes that evoke stone, and often present a sculptural identity.
