Attributed to Jean-Démosthène DUGOURC (Versailles 1749 - Paris 1825) Decorative project with Juno, nymphs and lovers Pen and black ink, watercolor over black pencil lines Vertical central fold, small stains, small holes top left and bottom right and small folds in lower corners Annotations on verso of frame: "Projet de décor pour le château de Brunoy, et son théâtre qui a appartenu au comte de Provence (futur Louis XVIII)" (Project for the décor of the château of Brunoy, and its theater, which belonged to the Count of Provence (future Louis XVIII)). 37.2x45.2cm Our drawing can be compared to a decoration project by Dugourc for the Château de Brunoy (see anonymous sale, June 3, 1988, Drouot Arcole, lot no. 44: "projet de décoration de salon pour Brunoy"). Appointed draughtsman to the Comte de Provence's bedroom and study in 1779, Dugourc was commissioned the following year to decorate the Château de Brunoy, acquired shortly before by the Comte de Provence. Unfortunately, the château was destroyed during the French Revolution.
