Jean COCTEAU (1889-1963) - Lot 38

Jean COCTEAU (1889-1963) L.A.S. with drawing, August 4, 1957; 1page in-8 (20.8 x 13.5 cm). Profile in blue pen enhanced in pencil. In the margins, Cocteau wrote: "Mon très cher Lucien Clergue. Of course I'll be proud to see my models in your exhibition. Yesterday was the Vallauris bullfight and your wounded bird race around the arena was very much missing from the program. I'm overloaded with work in Menton, and the more beautiful the work, the less the city council approves of it. The only antique chorus and smiles I have are from the building workers"... CCC p. 36 and reproduced in Documents. Lots 24 to 68 are sold by provisional auction with the option of reunion
