Fine trial proof printed in bistré black on "arches" watermarked laid paper, of an unfinished and unpublished subject, with scratches on the plate. Heavy dusting, foxing and minor spotting at edges. Full margins. Provenance: Michel Romand (1929-2013), great-grandson of Edmond Sagot (1857-1917).This print is to be compared with the pencil drawing Mother and Child (circa 1883), in reverse, from the collection of the Musée d'Art Moderne, Paris (donated by Marcelle Berr de Turique, inventory no. AMD 864), featured in the Suzanne Valadon exhibition (Centre Pompidou, January 15-May 26, 2025).
