Henri Guérard (1846-1897) Entrance to the Grand Canal, near the Piazzetta (night effect). Before 1891. Etching and aquatint (after a painting by the artist). 475 x 295. Bertin 210. Fine proof printed in midnight blue on cream laid paper, signed in pencil and stamped in gilt bronze ink (Lugt 1157) in the lower left corner of the subject. Small traces of thread-like rubbing perceptible on the surface in the upper right-hand corner of the subject. Heavy foxing. Paper strips stuck to edges on verso. Good reduced margins.
