ABJURATION - ALSACE] Extremely rare autograph attestation certifying the abjuration of Heymann SPIRO. Autograph attestation in Latin issued by J. Nussbaumer, parish priest of Uffholtz, diocese of Murbach. In it, he certifies having baptized Heymann Spiro, aged 16, raised in the Judaic religion, who abjured in favor of Christianity. With legalization of the Uffholtz parish priest's signature by J. Munch, the bailiff of Murbach. Armorial stamps. 2 pages, 18 x 32 cm (at sight). Creases and small tears. Jewish conversions to Christianity were extremely rare in the 18th century. Heymann Spiro's conversion seems to precede that of his father, Daniel Spiro from Wattwiller, who was baptized in Vieux-Thann on July 26, 1778, taking the Christian name Joseph-Antoine.
