A notice from Monsieur Cyrille Martin, grandson of the artist, dated December 1, 1989, affixed to a copy of a certificate from Monsieur Robert Martin, dated July 8, 1985, will be given to the purchaser. Robert Martin's 1985 certificate indicates that this work by Henri Martin was then signed "Claude Monet" in the lower left-hand corner. In 2001, the owner had the panel restored and the apocryphal "Claude Monet" signature removed. At the same time, Cabinet Cabane was commissioned by the owner to carry out reflectography examinations before and after restoration: Henri Martin's original signature, scratched off before the apocryphal signature "Claude Monet" was added to the lower left, then reappeared under infrared.
