Leo Tolstoy 1868: - Lot 17
Leo Tolstoy 1868:
2015 edition of the Ecrivains collection, published annually since 1992 through which Montblanc honors the lives and works of the greatest icons in the history of literature. 2015 pays tribute to the author of War and Peace: Russian Count Leo Tolstoy, one of the major authors of Russian literature.
For the first time, Montblanc presents a small-edition limited series of the Writers of the Year edition. The limited edition of 1,868 numbered copies (date of publication of the novel War and Peace) (number 152), features a hand-hammered, pale yellow gold-plated metal body, depicting Tolstoy's work in the fields.
And a cap in intense blue lacquered and chased metal inspired by the art of the famous goldsmith Peter Carl Fabergé, who served Tsar Alexander III during Tolstoy's lifetime.
The cap is adorned with a ring of Russian motifs, and the domed top of the cap symbolizes the typical pillars that mark the entrance to Tolstoy's family land of Yasnaya Polyana.
The end of the body is made of grenadilla wood adorned with a malachite stone. A reminder of Tolstoy's wish to be buried on his estate, surrounded by greenery and century-old trees.
Two-tone 18-carat gold nib engraved with the writer's portrait. Piston filling system.
In its box with its papers and over-box.
