Maurice SAND (1823-1889). Original graphite drawing, located and dated lower left "Nohant 1856"; 15.5 x 13.5 cm. Crouching boy, seen from behind, clinging to grass. Study for the figure on the left of his painting Le Grand Bissexte, exhibited at the 1857 Salon (Musée du Berry, Bourges), of which he also made a lithograph (Album Sand, Pléiade, no. 324). Provenance: Christiane Smeets-Sand. Exhibition George Sand. Les objets racontent son histoire (Fondation Dosne-Thiers, 1993, V, 7b).
