Superb edition of 450 numbered copies on Arches wove paper, containing the 14 large compositions that the painter Georges ROUAULT (1871-1958) had engraved with aquatint and tool in 1926 and 1927, and which were printed by Jacquemin in 1927. They are accompanied by poems from Baudelaire's Fleurs du mal. Each plate is numbered in pencil.
A very well preserved copy, enriched with a photocopy of a typed letter from Henri Creuzevault to the publisher, dated December 2, 1966. Creuzevault tells his correspondent that, because the price of the book is too high, he is obliged to limit subscriptions to 37 copies, and that he will not be buying the other 38 copies ordered for 1967. A photocopy of the publisher's reply is enclosed.
