Paris : Nouvelle Revue Française, [1922]. - Large in-8, 236 x 189: 212 pp. (4 ff. last blank), printed cover. Black morocco, first cover decorated with a boxing ring, composed of a large piece of gray boxing, light gray and black morocco listels, cold-stamped fillets and, to symbolize the lights, two pieces of black boxing bordered by two silver-colored fillets, smooth spine, framed in black morocco inside, gray suede lining and endpapers, palladium edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, black morocco spine flap folder, lined slipcase (Creuzevault).
Lioret et Cailler, I, N° 38 to 66.
Sought-after edition, illustrated with 29 original etchings by André DUNOYER DE SEGONZAC (1884-1974), 9 of them full-page.
This is the second book in the "Tableaux Contemporains" collection, and the most sought-after in the series. It was printed in an edition of 333 copies, this being one of 318 on vellum pur fil (no. 49).
A very fine copy in a binding by Creuzevault, who has reproduced a boxing ring on the front cover. It is enhanced by a tracing drawing of the binding decoration, and an original signed drawing by Dunoyer de Segonzac, depicting two boxers, not reproduced in the book.
A very well preserved copy, despite the faded spine of the dust jacket.
Provenance:
Colette Creuzevault.
