Rodolphe Bresdin (1822-1875) - Lot 79
Rodolphe Bresdin (1822-1875) Le Repos en Égypte à l'âne bâté. 1871. Etching. 225x285. Van Gelder 138. Very fine proof of a posthumous print on ivory laid paper watermarked "Van Gelder Zonen". A tiny spot of rust (or flystain) to the left of the subject. Slight handling creases. Full margins. "Probably George A. Lucas, who acquired the plate at the beginning of this century, who made the proofs printed on this paper (one of them is in Baltimore)". (D. van Gelder, Rodolphe Bresdin, tome II, catalog raisonné de l'œuvre gravé, Paris, Chêne, 1976, p. 134).
