Abraham Bosse (1602/1604-1676) Childbirth. (Pl. du Mariage à la ville). 1633. Etching and burin. 342x267. Duplessis 1376; Lothe280 (as "d'après Bosse"). Very fine proof on thin laid paper. Some rare foxing. A tiny hole in the tablet. Small margins. José Lothe, in his 2008 catalog, considers this to be an interpretative engraving after a drawing by Bosse, which is not mentioned by the first cataloguer Duplessis, nor by Sophie Join-Lambert and Maxime Préaud in the catalog of the exhibition Abraham Bosse, savant graveur, Paris, BnF, Tours, Musée des beaux-arts, 2004, which presents this engraving under no. 79.
