Georges CUVIER (1769-1832). L.S., co-signed by René Desfonta - Lot 171
Georges CUVIER (1769-1832). L.S., co-signed by René Desfontaines and André Thouin, Paris May 10, 1819, to Henri de Freycinet, capitaine de vaisseau à Rochefort; 1page in-4 on the letterhead of the Administration du Museum d'Histoire Naturelle au Jardin du Roi.
The Museum's administrators send the captain "acquit à caution [...] pour les trois caisses d'objets d'histoire naturelle envoyées de l'Inde par Mr Leschenault de la Tour". They arrived in good condition, and their interest will enable the "Minister of the Interior to grant this naturalist the same assistance as last year. The Minister of the Navy has already granted it for his part"...
