René MAGRITTE (1898-1967). 2 L.A.S. (postcards), [Nice] June - Lot 17

René MAGRITTE (1898-1967). 2 L.A.S. (postcards), [Nice] June 7 and 15, 1961, to his friend André Bosmans; on the backs of illustrated cards (Gorges du Verdon and jardin fleuri de la Côte d'Azur), addresses. On the magazine Rhétorique edited by Bosmans, whose first issue Matisse hopes to see soon: "I don't think you should demand perfect 'graphic design' from printers, otherwise we'll never see Rhétorique. I must even say that I prefer a little laissez-aller in technical matters: let's leave exemplary correction to the maniacs who place so much value on the march of mechanical progress". - He awaits the promised dispatch of this first issue and has to make "excursions to get away from the almost incessant noise of the Promenade des Anglais. There's nothing painful about the prospect of returning to Brussels; I won't mind returning to the relative calm of the Rue des Mimosas"...
