Clara HASKIL (1895-1960). L.A.S., [July 1930?], to Docteur P - Lot 96
Clara HASKIL (1895-1960). L.A.S., [July 1930?], to Docteur P. Petit; 2 pages in-12, address (one line lost when letter was opened). I'm so confused and ashamed that I hardly dare write to you, but I want to do it all the same, because I wouldn't be able to say anything to you in person. You know how much it meant to me that you should be happy with the concert, and I can't tell you how much it pains me to realize that I succeeded in doing just the opposite. I really did what I could with my unfortunate finger, apart from the abilities I lack. You're so good to me that I'm sure you'll excuse me, but I'm still very saddened by this sad result... The obstacles were unavoidable. I won't try to talk to you here about gratitude, words would only express my feelings very badly, but I feel more than I say ... Attached are a l.a.s. to her from Pierre Maillard, November 19, 1940, and a l.a.s. from Maillard to Dr. Petit, November 27, 1940; plus a concert program by Clara Haskil and Arthur Grumiaux on December 1, 1960 (a few days before her death), and a commemorative concert program.
