Louis Joseph Deflubé (1797-1884) Pierrefonds Castle from the opposite shore of the lake, c. 1845. Full-plate daguerreotype in original frame. 16 x 21.5 cm (view) - frame A member of the Société française de photographie and a fervent practitioner of early processes, Louis Joseph Deflubé began using daguerreotypes in the mid-1840s. Participating in the spa craze of the time, he founded the Pierrefonds-les-Bains (Oise) spa in 1846 after discovering sulfur springs on his property.
