New edition of this short story by Ivan Sergeevič Turgenev, or Tourgueniev (1818-1883), first published in 1881. It is sought-after because of the beautiful illustrations by painter and illustrator Vasilij Nikolaevič Masûtin (1884-1955), including a composition on the cover, 15 full-page engravings, 14 lettrines and a cul-de-lampe. A fine, well-preserved paperback copy. The covers are affected only by a few spots, a little light wetness and traces of folding.
