OVIDE. The Art of Loving. New translation by Pierre Lièvre. Paris: G. et R. Briffaut, 1923. - In-4, orange half-maroquin, ribbed spine, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (modern binding). Very fine edition of Ovid's "L'Art d'aimer", in Pierre Lièvre's new translation. It is illustrated by the Swiss engraver and illustrator André Lambert (1884-1967) with 23 etched color compositions, including a title, 4 frontispieces and 18 hors-texte, as well as several woodcut initials and ornaments. Edition of 500 copies; one of 404 on Arches vellum with the collection's watermark, containing the definitive color state of all plates. Spine slightly faded and some minor wear. Spotting on the lower edge of several leaves and a few rare spots, not serious.
