Jacques CHARDONNE (1884-1968). Autograph manuscript, Francis Jammes. - Les Feuilles dans le vent, [1914?]; 2 pages in-4 (printer's marks), with erasures and corrections; the end is missing (slight wetness). Literary chronicle, dealing with Les Feuilles dans le vent by Francis Jammes (1913). "Les Feuilles dans le vent is a collection of small miscellaneous works. It contains Jammes' best pages and his worst. L'Auberge sur la route is a sunny country day from a beggar-poet of astonishing familiar majesty", but other tales are "marred by those bland kindnesses and flowery poverties that too often turn Jammes' characters into sketchy sugar figurines"... Then Chardonne discusses La Vieillesse d'Hélène. Nouveaux contes en marge by Jules Lemaître (1914), who "draws his inspiration from old books, and uses them with the most famous heroes as freely as the novelist uses his memories"... (the end is missing).
