MAC ORLAN (Pierre). Pseudonym of Pierre Dumarchey. - Lot 244
MAC ORLAN (Pierre). Pseudonym of Pierre Dumarchey. [Original illustrated manuscript]. Primer. 27 drawings by me. [Saint-Cyr-sur-Morin]. 1935. In-4 (25,2 x 21 cm). (53) pp., (1) p. of justification : vellum binding illustrated with an original composition in colored inks signed with the author's monogram, alphabet inscribed on the spine. Unpublished illustrated manuscript of Pierre Mac Orlan (1882-1970) written in the form of an alphabet. Cover, title page and twenty-six original drawings in ink and watercolor. On the blank page opposite the drawing, a quatrain placed between two lines and an initials, also colored. Quatrains sometimes erotic, often dark, marked by the satirical vein and matching the illustrations. The handwritten justification of the printing on bright pink watercolor [fanciful, the work is not printed] confirms the uniqueness: "Only one copy of this work was printed by the Benninic St-Cyr presses. Printed on vellum (without guarantee). Binding also Benninic Saint-Cyr. This copy belongs to Madame Monique Cros". Mac Orlan completes his justification with a dedication to the latter where he regrets that only one copy of this little book is printed but that its value, to which she has so kindly and so perfectly contributed, will only be greater. Remarkable unpublished manuscript, very well preserved, slightly loose sewing. Provenance : Library of Monique Cros, with her illustrated bookplate. Later address in black ink on the justification page: "For Ninie's 21st birthday..." signed Félix. Certainly from the hand of Colonel Felix Cros, husband of Monique.
