[Game]. Alphabet of the Little Geographers. [France. ca. 1880]. Printed by L. v. Leer & Co. Haarlem. Wooden and cardboard box (29 x 24.9 x 4.5 cm). Containing (6) chromolithographed plates in a white and gilt paper frame, applied to wood, and cut into a puzzle, purple paper reverse: chromolithography applied to the lid with, in the center in an oval, the title accompanied by children around a globe and various landscapes and figures in a frame, gilt embossed paper border, definitions of the various occurrences on the reverse. Attractive geographical primer. Puzzle of places of nature, cities and the J for Japanese. From Anse to Zanzibar, the four illustrations of the first five plates and the six of the last one are on the same model: initial in red relief, accompanied by its minuscule print at the head, and the legend of a single word at the foot. The Dutch printer L. van Leer & Cie printed his chromolithograph plates for several countries and thus made his printing profitable, adding the legend later. The occurrences shown in this set, intended for the French market, are also possible with a caption in English, which explains the presence of the W for Isle of Wight. In very good condition. One missing piece for the S of Source, showing a swamp.
