JACOBI (Michéa). - Lot 201
JACOBI (Michéa). Abécédaire du monde à l'envers. "Completed on March 4, 2002 in Marseille by Michéa Jacobi for his Abécédaire des Abécédaires". (32 x 24 cm). (36) pp. including covers [9 gray cardboard folders bound with gold thread]: collage and ink drawing in a circle "Negrillon evangelizing a missionary", framed with the title, on the first. Enclosed in a box (34 x 26.7 x 4 cm) covered with illustrated paper and with a collage on the cover, "L'Ane et son meunier". Unique copy of an artist's alphabet book by the writer and illustrator Michéa Jacobi. Passionate about alphabet books, he creates unique copies made of recycled and diverted materials. Cover, title page, justification and twenty-six plates, all in collages, ink and pastel drawings. Everything is upside down, the book begins with Z and each collage illustrates the opposite of what is usual: Zebra chasing a lion, Yogurt brewing his milkmaid, Xenophobe adoring a stranger [...], Ox slaughtering his butcher [collage of Matisse associated with butcher's wrapping paper under his ink drawing], Lamb devouring a wolf, etc. Unique and unusual primer, in perfect condition.
