ONE OF THE SIXTY-FIVE NUMBERED COPIES ON PURE WIRE VELIN FROM LAFUMA-NAVARRE PAPER STORES, the only one on large paper. A perfectly preserved copy, enriched with a very beautiful autograph letter signed by the author, four pages in-12, dated March 1940 on the letterhead of the Hotel Vouillemont in Paris and addressed to his grandmother whom he calls "Mon chéri". Sachs has just arrived in Paris and warns his grandmother that he is going to take care of his back taxes. He writes about his Parisian and literary projects, in particular about his novel Abracadabra, which he has begun to write: "My novel, which is called Abracadabra, is the story of a young rich boy who is bored . The dwarf Grain-de-Sel, who is a fairy, comes to see him and, to distract him, takes him to Joconde, the capital of the fairies, where the fairies and men live together. This does not amuse young Daniel, who has been dumbed down by wealth. Even a beautiful young girl shown to him does not move him. The dejected dwarf drives him back to Paris and raises a crane that ruins him. Through poverty the young fool begins to gain intelligence. Little by little, life becomes more valuable when he finally understands that the woman he loved and who ruined him was the fairy double of Sleeping Beauty, he finds her and takes her away. He understood the deep meaning of life. He goes on to talk about Vichy, where his grandmother is: "My friend Alquié, who goes there every year to make love with the ladies who are bored at the spa, tells me that it is a paradise for adventure. He ends his letter by writing, "I kiss you // your grandfather // Maurice."
