*THÉOPHILE ALEXANDRE STEINLEN (1859-1923) [Collective]. Collection of exhibition catalogs at the Bodinière. 1894-1895. A vol. in-8 [145 x 190] bound, gathering the catalogs of the exhibitions organized at the Théâtre d'Application, known as la Bodinière (from the name of its owner, M. Bodinier). La Bodinière was a theater located at 18, rue Saint-Lazare in Paris. It was founded in 1888 by Charles Bodinier (1844-1911), secretary general of the Comédie-Française from 1882 to 1889, with the aim of allowing the students of the Conservatoire to familiarize themselves with the stage. "After having bought the neighboring buildings, he transformed it into a real theater. In 1890, the Matinées-causeries de la chanson were created there, bringing together all the songwriters and café-concert singers of Paris at the time. Yvette Guilbert performed there regularly from 1891 onwards and the room was quickly nicknamed La Bodinière, a reference to its creator. Artists' exhibitions were organized in the hallway. Numerous conferences and social gatherings were held in the theater." (Wikipedia). From 1901, the theater changed hands and names several times. It closed permanently in 1909. "What he had created had lasted only a few years, but he had at least created something. [...] One had seen exhibitions of paintings [...] One had lived there in an activity of art." (Georges Bourdon, " La Bodinière s'en va ", Le Figaro, 16 January 1910). Details of the bound booklets : - First exhibition of the drawn and painted work of Th. A.
