Miss Renée de MIRMONT (Paris, 1868-1918) Portrait of a Chihuahua Miniature on ivory*, circa 1900 Signed lower right Renée de Mirmont Size : 7 x 5.3 cm at sight. Oval frame in gilded wood (small accidents to the frame). Gross weight : 41,2 gr Pupil of Ch. Bellay, she was active in Paris from at least 1888 to 1903, exhibited at the Society of French Artists and won a bronze medal in 1900. She was one of the best miniaturists of her time and trained many students. The Louvre preserves a portrait of a woman by her (RF40300). This miniature is so fine that it is almost possible to guess the name of the dog "Félix?" on the medal he wears on his collar. According to the regulation that came into force on January 19, 2022, intra-European Union trade in ivory is subject to obtaining a CIC certificate. Re-exportation outside the European Union is prohibited.
