SAND (George). - Lot 168
SAND (George). Isidora. Paris : Hippolyte Souverain, 1847. - 3 volumes in-8, dark green bradel paper boards, smooth spines decorated with gilt fillets, untrimmed (20th century boards). First edition of 1846, with the relay titles dated 1847. " Isidora" ends on page 85 of the third volume; it is followed by "Fanchette" and "Lettre d'un paysan de la Vallée noire" . EXAMPLE OF AURORE SAND (1866-1961), LITTLE DAUGHTER OF GEORGE SAND, who affixed her autograph signature to each first endpaper, accompanied by the date 1907. Copy includes several pencil notes, mostly in the first volume, which are not in Aurore's hand but in the hand of an obviously anti-feminist reader . There is also the signature and the bookplate of a certain Rousseau de Saint-Lô. The table leaf at the end of the first volume is missing. Lower third of the last leaf of the second volume torn and missing, without affecting the table. Some foxing.
