Ernest CHAUSSON (1855-1899). 3 L.A.S., 1890-1894, to his fri - Lot 53
Ernest CHAUSSON (1855-1899). 3 L.A.S., 1890-1894, to his friend the musicologist Julien Tiersot; 7 pages in-8, 2 envelopes. Cuincy près Douai, Monday [19 August 1890]. His friend Tannery "has been charged by Hachette to revise Bouillet's dictionary [...] The said Tannery has collocated to me the music articles to be replastered or rebuilt. I accepted carelessly, not really thinking about what this would entail, and here I am with piles of little pieces of paper in front of my nose, which prove to me the prodigious number of things I do not know. He would like to know if there is " a well-made musical dictionary [...] It would be a good help for me to check Loquin's articles which sometimes seem strange to me "... He is near Douai until mid-September and then goes to Béarn... Bonneuil-Matours on Friday morning. He regrets not having been able to attend a concert at the Cercle Saint-Simon, having received the tickets too late to give them to people "very happy to applaud this young, French and contemporary music. [...] Above all, do not cut your beard. December 13 [1894]. "Would you like to come and sing fragments of Cherubini and Franck on Christmas Day at Donnemarie, at Husson's house. We are all going in a group. [...] Husson has asked me to tell you that he would be happy to see you among the tenors"... Attached is a P.S. with the mention "composer of music" and his autograph address, Paris 9 February 1898, subscription to the Revue biographique des notabilités françaises contemporaines.
