Walter BENJAMIN (1892-1940). Autograph mailing on an issue of the journal Zeitschrift für Sozialforschung (1934, Heft 3, Librairie Félix Alcan, Paris); in-8, paperback. On the cover, Walter Benjamin has written: "A Monsieur Laporte hommage de l'", followed by the stamp of the Institut de Recherches sociales (Bureau de Paris). This was probably the philosopher Jean Laporte (1886-1948), a contributor to the Revue de métaphysique et de morale and the Revue philosophique. It was from his work at the Institute for Social Research that W. Benjamin, in exile in Paris, derived most of his livelihood.
