Beautiful portrait of the Dutch composer and pianist, seated in front of his piano, by Menut Alophe, lithographed by Jacomme, with reproduction of Ascher's signature. Of Jewish origin, born in Groningen, Ascher studied in London and Leipzig with Moscheles, and was appointed pianist to Empress Eugenie.
