An imposing, ancient sculpture of a rice bùlul deity in a classical seated position, with crossed arms resting on the knees. In terms of style, this bùlul still bears witness to some very fine reminiscences of archaism, notably in the sculptural treatment of the volumes of the back rising towards the head and arms, carved in flat or faceted forms (see p. 240 n°158 for a bùlul with these characteristics in the catalog of the exhibition Philippines Archipel des Echanges at the Musée du Quai Branly), as well as the treatment of the quasi-geometric legs and calves, also characteristic of ancient sculptures.
