SYRIA-TURKEY. Autograph manuscript signed by engineer Yves BEAUMONT, La destruction par explosifs des ponts métalliques, Alep June 1, 1922; 62-page in-4 notebook with numerous sketches and tables, 27 photos in the text and a color plan. Interesting document on the Syria-Cilicia rail network. A foreword explains: "The Syrian-Cilician railway network, formerly operated by the Turks in the form of two railway companies: the "Bagdad" Company and the D.H.P. Company (Damascus, Hama and Prohibition). (Damascus, Hama and Prolongements) is, since the French occupation, a unique network from the point of view of military control but not of operation"... Many of the network's structures were destroyed by bombardment from Allied warships and during the German-Turkish retreat of 1918, and Beaumont, who examined them, divided his work (illustrated with photos) into two parts: 1. Generalities and theoretical considerations on the destruction of metal bridges by explosives; 2. Destruction of metal structures on the Syria-Cilicia network, with the various viaducts and bridges. A handwritten map shows the region from Jerusalem to Alexandria. 6 photos are enclosed, including one signed and dated on the back by Y. Beaumont, December 1921, of his S.C.F. company, Armée du Levant.
