Michel BUTOR (1926-2016). Avec l'Étranger (In memoriam Charles Baudelaire). Illustrations by Bertrand Dorny (1931-2015) (Paris & Lucinges, 1999). Volume in-4° (265 x 187 cm) comprising 12 sewn accordion-mounted leaves, the last one blank, semi-rigid cover covered with light-blue marbled paper with title on label, spangled metallic paper back cover (in protective slipcase covered with the same metallic paper).
Autograph manuscript of this text, published in an edition of 5 copies.
The work is made up of cut-outs and collages in the form of clouds stenciled by B. Dorny, on which Michel Butor's handwritten text in blue felt-tip pen and black ink is displayed.
Extremely rare first edition produced in an edition of 5 copies on BFK de Rives, all numbered and signed by the author and artist, this one no. 2.
A literary and artistic tribute to Charles Baudelaire through his prose poem L'Étranger, whose passages, copied in blue felt-tip pen, alternate with the fragmented impressions it inspired in Michel Butor, written in black fountain pen.
The Bibliothèque Municipale d'Angers owns copy no. 5 of this rare work, a smaller copy (19 x 17.5 cm) that was sold directly by Bertrand Dorny in November 2012. [Bertrand Dorny sold his own copy to the Châlons-sur-Marne library for 2000].

Attached: Michel Butor, La Main sur le mur. Poem illustrated with an original drypoint engraved on PVC by Julius Baltazar (Paris, Imprimerie I.S.M. for the text and Luc Moreau for the engraving, [1981]). In-12 oblong of 8p., uncut. Original edition of 60 numbered copies (no. 13), signed by the poet and artist.
