Mother-of-pearl-inlaid wooden scholar's tray, Indochina, 19th century Square in shape, resting on four legs set in a scalloped base, decorated with a complex Grecian motif inlaid with mother-of-pearl in light relief. Each side is adorned with a similar design, featuring rocky outcrops planted with bamboo, plum and other flowers, and scattered with symbolic animals such as bats, rabbits, birds and dormice.
