[MANUSCRIT].
Abridged by Requests and Answers of the Cabotage, the Definition of the Asphere, the Latitude, the Art of Sailing, the Variation, the Magnetic Eel and the Marine Charts, &c.
S.l., [18th century]. - Small manuscript in-8, 163 x 105 : (2 ff.), 195 pp. 2 drawings out of text. Tan basane, spine ribbed, red edges (period binding).

Very beautiful manuscript written in brown and red ink, decorated with numerous floral decorations in colors and stylized frames.
The text consists of a question and answer game on scientific, geographical and maritime subjects. It is written in a perfectly legible handwriting without erasure; the ornamentation could make one think that it is a feminine handwriting. There is an attractive monogram repeated three times (second leaf, pages 33 and 175).
Among the subjects discussed are: the golden ratio, the epact, the age of the moon, the delay of the sea, the division of time, the division of days and nights, the solar cycle, the Sunday letter, the movable feasts, the situation of ports, roadsteads and sea coasts, the sphere, the signs of the zodiac, the latitude, the height of the pole, the declination of the sun, the art of navigation, the universal correction, the variation of the magnetized needle, the amplitude of the sun, the maritime charts, the origins of navigation, the twelve months of the year, etc.
The author of this manuscript has included several tables, as well as a drawing of a compass (p. 35) and two fold-out drawings, the first representing a graph and the second "Les 32 Rhums ou airs de vent et leur valleur Pour l'Etablissement Des Marées". Page 36 has been pasted a copperplate engraving representing "La Sphère artificielle, Ellevée sur l'Horison à la Latitude de Paris", carefully painted.
Significant loss to the headpieces, dull corners, some spotting and worm work, cracks to the spine. The interior is very well preserved despite tears at the folds of the two out-of-text drawings.
