TZARA (Tristan).
Guide to the Paths of the Heart.
Paris: Jeanne Bucher, [1928]. — In-4, 280 x 192: (26 ff.), illustrated cover. Paperback, padded cover.

First edition of this collection of seven poems by Tristan Tzara, written between 1924 and 1925, during a period of happiness shared with Greta Knutson, his future wife. It is illustrated with three original full-page etchings by the Cubist painter and engraver Louis MARCOUSSIS (1878–1941).

In the July 1928 issue of *Les Feuilles libres*, Georges Hugnet wrote this glowing review of the book: “*L’Indicateur* is a human book, a book that comes from the head, the heart, the gut, the hands, and the feet. When poetry comes from the whole body, it is successful […] Tzara has won the day. He has retained his freshness while gaining in depth. ”

Limited to only 106 copies, this is one of 86 printed on Arches vellum (no. 100).

Minor soiling on the cover. A few scattered foxing spots.
